1. If you are going to register on XLNation, please make sure you do not use a proxy server.
    If you use a proxy server your registration will most likely get blocked due to spammers and hackers using proxy servers to hide their real IP address.

    Hello, I have cities xl platinum, which has been upgraded from 2011 and 2012. Unfortunately the game becomes unstable when I build a big city, and starts to crash. The error message I receive is as follows;

    D3DXCreateEffect has failed.
    File:
    Error:
    Could not retrieve error message.
    Press ok to retry.

    I have no idea why this is happening, and I have even bought a new computer with excellent graphics card to stop any issues. Please can someone help??

    delete your shadercache everytime before you start the game..
    you can use skullz "delete shadercache plus" which you can find in the xlex to make this happen automatically

    That's brilliant and thanks for your help. I may look and sound stupid, but do I need to download the file to desktop, and how do I use it along side my xl platinum game? I don't even know how to change the name its talking about?

    jep just place it on your desktop and follow the instructions given in his tutorial
    to change the "name" open the file with editor or notepad++ and change
    YOUR NAME HERE with your username youre using on your computer
