    as a new one,i want to creat a mod.but i start from google 3d model,its a test,and i cant solve the chartlet

    i have a new project,but i get some problem.when i add a Self-Illumination map and reflection Map,theres the building become too high light TIM截图20180703110033.png
    TIM截图20180704145042.png like this,and also a issue is the map become Concave and convex,but in the 3dmax it looks flat. TIM图片20180704145427.png you can see the undulating between the line and the windows.
    and else i dont know how to add refraction mapping and dont know how to name it in 3dmax like i can know name b_ind_model_T3 for example.sorry for my expression i am a chinese so i am not good at english

    how do your illumination map and reflection map look like?
    which channel do you use for them?


    what you mean with concave and convex?
    can you provide a screenshot from 3dsmax?

    yes that happens when you flip/mirror your faces in 3ds max.
    Thats a known and annoying bug from cities xl. you have two options: 1. use a absolutely flat normal map or 2. do not flip/mirror your faces.

    make more subdivisions of your faces. Means you can use more space of your texture maps for a single texture.
    for example; the same box:

    instead of subdivisions you can also use these options. thats saving triangles. never tried it with citiesxl tho.

    sorry for my formulation.concave and convex means bump map.and as you sad i can make a total flat bump map?and for a friends suggest,i know the building looks so bright cause i add the specular color map.and the last one is the refrection map,how i can name it in max .are the refrection map the one influence the buildings look?like fayeds mods TIM截图20180705110258.png theres a refrection in the glass so we can see the cloud and the blue sky,how can i get this effect?

    just one single color (purple or blue or whatever you use)
    yes, thats why i asked how your maps look like.
    If it is 100%white thats most likely why. Try more grey to black.
    all maps influence how the building looks ;)
    youre talking about refraction or reflection?^^

    reflection maps are grey scaled maps 100% white to 100% black. They control the reflection of your surfaces. Just paint the parts of your diffuse map white you want to have a high reflection and black the ones with a low one; and grey for inbetween.
    save it as a new map and put it in reflection map slot.

    a normal map? yes you need it. but it can be absolutely flat. like this:
    b_pro_euromallX_bp_l1.png ---> b_pro_euromallX_bp_l1_2.png

    the reflection map controls the intensity of reflections. the reflections are not real tho, they just show a cubemap.
    A bad example, but the first one i found in my old projects:

    The diffuse map:
    b_pro_euromallX_dif_l1.png
    and the reflection map:
    b_pro_euromallX_rf_l1.png

    you can, but you shouldnt if it is not absolutely necessary. do this only for complex landmarks.
    Background is: yes, computers and graphic cards are a lot faster than 10years ago, but the engine of cx(x)l is still the same crap as it was back then. So if you build 100 buildings in your city that do not meet the tech specifications of cxl, your game will slow down even more (and we all know it already is ultra slow)

    This building would be amazing to have in-game, I hope you find time to finish it, would hate to see such a beautiful building go to waste.

    yep,i like low rise buildings too,and it is easy no complex like high buildings.i am happy that you like it,thank you.
