    If you had looked this up a bit deeper, there actually
    is no highway that has more than 5 lanes each direction that are on one
    asphalt zone; there are rather parallel running highways with both 5 lanes in the same direction,
    nothing more...
    and one specific link said that some of the large looking highways was a Photoshop fake
    apparently...

    The M25 moterway section in the UK near the heathrow airport/M4 junction has one long section of 6 lanes each way (12 total) and even one short section of 7 lanes each way (14 total). I'm pretty sure that this can't be the only place in the world with this many lanes, some large roads in china or India must have giant highways.

    Umm the Tom Moreland Interchange in Atlanta, better known as Spaghetti Junction. "It is eight to 12 lanes wide, with the northern part from I-75 to Georgia 400 to I-85 the most heavily traveled. One segment of the highway near Spaghetti Junction (a large, flyover highway interchange northeast of Atlanta) with Interstate 85 widens to 18 lanes, including collector-distributor lanes." (source)

    Oh yeah I have driven that section myself and the name does fit

    When Interstate 405 and Ste Hwy 22 in Garden Grove, CA merge for about 4 or 5 miles its like 10 lanes in each direction

    the 5 - 805 - 56 just outside of Del Mar CA is the widest freeway ever ... I think

    Some sections of the 401 in Toronto are 20 lanes wide
