Exactly, and most suggestions included hilly maps that would be an even tougher challenge in that short amount of time.
So one educated choice may be better, Glorious Leader^^

Almost missed all the discussion here

Well, I will definitely compete in a new contest.. although the timing will be not the best for me personally. I won't be able to use the additional amount of time, but at least, that way I can take part ;)

Map is all done. I won't say it's name but it's an area in NZ :)

Two big areas of flatness (may have to use the flat tools to be sure) for large airports. Plenty of harbor options (in game harbors will need the ground dropping a bit to work. Ground height is high enough to dig down. RHM bridges work over water.
I would of liked the water higher but then there is no way you can dig down without creating un-natural higher areas.
Trees are in the water as usual with a map made in the old editor. Can't do anything about it. Just go bonkers with the bulldozer.

Oh, yeah, looks like there will be plenty of small peninsulas for secluded mansion districts^^

You can open the competition this weekend, that one week more surely won't matter

Here's a shot of the area. Should be enough to get imaginations going on what can be done.

Are you guys sure about opening public threads for the categories?
@CraCkeR JaCk, I see that a secret vote of just some people may not seem fair, but so far, we have not had any problems with it. It may sometimes be surprising that almost all of the participants got a medal, but it's indeed a random outcome.
I have to say that I'm afraid of a public choice for two reasons:
    1) when it's a public vote, people may get tired and don't vote for some of the last categories.
    2) educated jurors may sometimes recognize the difficulty of a certain structure and value this higher than just the size. I mean, especially for airports, ports, highway and railway networks, it may be hard for people who never built such structures to decide what may be better.

@skullz613, I do have one important question: can we have a secret public poll for the overall winners such that the results will still be hidden even after people voted? I would love the surprise :p

Good idea and will have to see what options there is when setting a poll up.
@Mr.X² might be more clued up on the options

EDIT Yes we can do that :) Just had a play with a test poll

well that comes a little late :p
maybe theres a free poll system somewhere on the internet which is able to handle such a system as we need for category voting. if not well stick for the public thread this time. if it does not work well go back to our previous system

I don't think that it will work. Think about that for each category, people will have to look up all the submitted images once again. No way with more than 5 participants... who wants to look through probably 150 images more than 10 times (as we have more than 10 categories)?
